Sundre Resident’s death Leads to Murder Charge
In a recent case from Mountain View County, Alta., a Sundre local was tragically killed on Thursday, January 25th, 2024. The incident led to charges being laid, further deepening the shock and grief experienced by the local community.
The Incident
On the fateful day, Sundre RCMP responded promptly to a distressing call from a residence located northeast of Sundre, in the quiet and typically peaceful area of Mountain View County. The call reported a male who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was swiftly identified as 36-year-old Justin Goodhand, a well-known figure within the community.
Despite immense efforts, Goodhand was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. A subsequent autopsy carried out on January 26, 2024, confirmed the cause of death and led the authorities to classify it as a homicide.
The Charge and Investigation
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, known for their meticulous work, took over the case. Their thorough investigation resulted in 36-year-old Sundre resident, Richard Mcculloch, being charged with one count of second-degree murder in relation to Goodhand’s death.
Mcculloch, who has been remanded into custody, is set to make his first appearance in Didsbury Provincial Court on Monday, January 29, 2024. At this stage of the investigation, the authorities are not looking for any other suspects.
