Tragic Collision Leaves One Dead and Several Injured in Alabama.

In a devastating incident on Monday night, a fatal collision between a car and a Greyhound bus in Alabama claimed the life of one individual and left several others with serious injuries. The unfortunate incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on Highway 53, just outside Huntsville, in Limestone County.

The collision resulted in the bus veering off the roadway and flipping over. Tragically, the driver of the car, identified as 23-year-old Sidney Benson, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sidney Benson, a resident of Huntsville, was driving a 2023 Kia Seltos SUV when the accident occurred, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Huntsville Emergency Medical Services.

Toni Lopez, the driver of the Greyhound bus, sustained injuries and was immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital via helicopter for urgent medical attention. Additionally, eight passengers ranging in age from 23 to 63 were also injured in the collision. While four of them were hospitalised with hospitalising injuries, two individuals suffered severe injuries and required airlifts. As of Tuesday morning, six passengers had already been treated and discharged from medical care.

The exact number of passengers present on the bus at the time of the accident remains uncertain. Greyhound has expressed its deep concern regarding the incident and has pledged to cooperate fully with local authorities to determine the cause of the crash. The company issued a statement expressing their shock and sadness, extending their sympathies to all those affected and their families, and assuring that they actively support the tragedy.

The ill-fated Greyhound bus had originated from Tallahassee, Florida, and was en route to Nashville, Tennessee, with a scheduled stop in Huntsville.
