14-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot in Gentilly Woods: Dajuan Wells Identified as Victim

New Orleans police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in the Gentilly Woods neighbourhood as 14-year-old Dajuan Wells. The incident occurred on Monday, January 29, near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Louisa Street.

Wells was shot and killed at approximately 4:03 p.m., according to reports. Responding officers arrived at the scene to find Wells and his sister, who had witnessed the crime and sought help. The girl had gone to a nearby store to get the owner’s attention, but unfortunately, it was too late.

The store owner, Jadallah Saed, related the tragic incident and voiced his displeasure with the rising level of violence in the city. He stated, “We called 911 a couple of times. I went to the car. He’s already like, ‘We can’t do nothing. He got shot multiple times, and he’s already dead.'” Saed’s words reflect the growing concern among residents about the escalating crime rate in New Orleans.
