The victim has been identified as Gabriel Vigil, an 18-year-old male. Tommi Gallegos, aged 23, has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of obstructing the investigation into Vigil’s death.
The incident unfolded at approximately 2:35 a.m. on January 14, when officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department responded to the scene. They found Vigil on the ground with at least one gunshot wound. Despite their efforts, Vigil tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
During the investigation, authorities discovered damage from gunfire on a nearby house, fence, and multiple parked cars. The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation. It is believed that an argument escalated into a physical altercation before the fatal shooting took place. Following the incident, individuals present at the party, including witnesses, reportedly left the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.
Detectives working on the case have alleged that Gallegos provided false statements to hinder or delay the prosecution of those responsible for Vigil’s death. Consequently, she is now facing one count of obstruction of justice and is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
