FRIANT, Calif. – In a tragic incident near Millerton Lake, a Fresno man has been identified as the victim of a deadly head-on crash. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identity of the victim, who lost his life in the accident.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Saturday around 2:30 p.m. Ryan Trevino, a 35-year-old resident of Fresno, was driving a blue Chevy Silverado westbound on Millerton Road, near Marina Drive. At the same time, 78-year-old John Tarter, also from Fresno, was driving his white Toyota Tundra eastbound on the same road.
Eyewitnesses reported that Trevino’s Chevy crossed the solid double yellow lines, colliding with Tarter’s Toyota. The witnesses also mentioned that the blue Chevy was being driven recklessly before the crash.
Tragically, Tarter succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his passenger sustained major injuries. The investigation revealed that Trevino is currently receiving treatment for his significant injuries in the hospital. Moreover, he is being investigated under suspicion of driving under the influence, as alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Trevino has been involved in a suspected DUI incident. This is the second such incident within the past few months. The previous incident resulted in his arrest in October of 2023.
