On the morning of January 15th, officers swiftly responded to a distressing call on 18th Street North in Birmingham after a diligent city worker stumbled upon the lifeless body of a woman. The Birmingham Police Department launched an immediate investigation into the incident.
The victim has been identified as Genise Carter, a 43-year-old resident of Birmingham. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office conducted a thorough autopsy on the deceased, revealing that she had tragically been shot.
Following intensive detective work, authorities successfully apprehended 21-year-old Jayden Gildersleeve, a resident of Midfield, on Thursday.
