University of Wisconsin Clinical Trials Institute (UW CTI) has announced the opening of a new position for a Clinical Trials Research Portfolio Manager. The manager will be responsible for overseeing the activation of clinical trials studies across the UW Health and UW-Madison enterprise.
The UW CTI is a collaboration between the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) and UW Health. Its mission is to support clinical research professionals, investigators, and participants in advancing discovery and research in the prevention, detection, and treatment of diseases.
The Clinical Trials Research Portfolio Manager will serve as the main contact for sponsors and investigators, managing the study activation process from intake for new clinical trials. They will work closely with sponsors to obtain trial information and required documents, ensuring a smooth and efficient process. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for managing start-up timelines, including IRB approval, budget development, and contract execution.
In order to successfully carry out their responsibilities, the Portfolio Manager will need to have a strong understanding of industry regulations and experience working with Contract Research Organizations and Study Sponsors. They should also have previous experience with OnCore, eBinders, Electronic Health Records, and IRB applications.
The manager will serve as a content expert resource for study-specific protocol requirements and will collaborate with PIs, study coordinators, and other research staff to address any clinical, logistical, financial, or regulatory issues that may arise. They will also establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clinical partners and ancillary services.
Candidates for the position should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in clinical trials operations, including regulatory, coordination, project management, or budget/contract negotiation. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, and clinical trials certification such as CCRC, CCRA, or CCRP is a plus.
The position is full-time and may require some in-person work at designated campus locations. The salary for the position starts at $77,450 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
